Chief Executive Officer
Akifumi Morinaka
Dr. Morinaka was engaged in research and development of biopharmaceuticals, personalized medicine, translational research, and new business development in medical devices and digital health at Astellas Pharma. Subsequently, he was posted to a CVC in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he collaborated with Treo Ventures, a local medical device venture capital firm. After returning to Japan, he joined JAFCO, a venture capital company, where he invested in R&D-focused startups, primarily in the life science field, and supported their growth as a board member. Furthermore, as a business promoter for JST START and a supporter for MEDISO, he promoted the commercialization of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, regenerative medicine, and other fields by R&D-based ventures. He assumed the position of Representative Director and CEO of our company in July 2023.
Dr. Morinaka graduated from the Faculty of Science at the University of Tokyo and completed the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences at the same university, earning a Ph.D. in Life Science. He also holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business and Finance at Waseda University.
